Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Sweden at Bilino Polje Stadium tomorrow in the Nations League. The match, which will kick off at 21:45 Türkiye time, will be Edin Džeko’s final game for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Speaking at a press conference held before the match, Džeko said wearing the national team shirt had been more important to him than anything else. The footballer said he had fulfilled his childhood dream and was leaving the national team happily after reaching the highest point he could.
Džeko said Bilino Polje Stadium held a special place for him and the national team, adding that they wanted to leave the match against Sweden with a win.
Džeko said he was experiencing intense emotions ahead of the match in which he will say farewell to the national team. He said he felt the same excitement and pressure as if he were making his debut. The footballer added that once the match began, he would focus solely on the game and noted that he had done everything he could for the national team.
Džeko also said that his children were unhappy with his decision to retire from international football. He said that from now on, all that remained was to take his children by the hand to the stands and cheer for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Džeko’s message to young footballers
Addressing young footballers, Džeko stressed that talent alone was not enough. He urged them to work harder every day while pursuing their dreams.
