A strike in Greece brought vehicle crossings to a halt at two key Turkish border gates to Europe. Crossings to Greece from the Pazarkule and Ipsala gates were suspended, and drivers, mostly expatriates, were redirected by officials to the Kapıkule Border Gate, which opens to Bulgaria.
Ahmet Türkoğlu, who was returning to Germany, said he had preferred Pazarkule but was redirected to Kapıkule due to the strike, stating, "There was a strike on the Greek side. We will head to Kapıkule from here." Cihan Rayman, who was traveling to France, also said they would use Kapıkule for the same reason, while Nesimi Can, heading to Belgium, said they were redirected to Kapıkule, which is about 20 kilometers away.
