Thailand-based defense channel Pacific Steel praised ASELSAN’s TOLUN EW electronic warfare munition in a broadcast examining the system. The channel said, "TOLUN EW is a system that has absolutely amazed me and that I consider the most valuable crown jewel of the Turkish defense industry today."
The broadcast emphasized that TOLUN EW is an "advanced technology" that has made Türkiye a leader in network-centric warfare.
It jams radars and blinds air defenses
Equipped with a compact electronic jamming payload, TOLUN EW is a long-range munition that glides toward its target. Before reaching the target, the system actively jams enemy radars, disrupts communications and blinds air defense systems.
According to information in defense publications, TOLUN EW uses DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory) technology to generate false targets and open corridors for friendly manned and unmanned aircraft. The munition has an updatable threat library and can be controlled in real time via a data link. Unlike the US-made MALD and MBDA’s SPEAR EW systems, it also carries a warhead.
The TOLUN family expands
The TOLUN family’s new members, TOLUN-L, TOLUN-F and TOLUN EW, were introduced at SAHA Expo 2026 in May. The 121-kilogram laser-guided TOLUN-L can strike its target with a margin of error of less than 3 meters. TOLUN-F carries a 70-kilogram fragmentation warhead designed for use against radars, air defense systems and command centers.
The TOLUN family, whose certification has been completed for the F-16 and AKINCI, has a range of approximately 100 kilometers when launched from an F-16 and approximately 67 kilometers when launched from an AKINCI. The SADAK-4T smart rack system can carry four TOLUN munitions on a single station. The munition could later be integrated into platforms such as KAAN, HÜRJET, KIZILELMA and ANKA-3.

"A very important piece on the global chessboard"
In its second assessment, Pacific Steel said ASELSAN was rapidly expanding into global markets and that TOLUN was one of the company’s standout products. The channel said, "ASELSAN TOLUN is no longer just a munition; it is becoming a strategic tool that increases Türkiye’s global influence."
The channel emphasized that more countries, from the Middle East and the Caucasus to Eastern Europe and Africa, are turning to Turkish defense products, saying, "Türkiye is transforming from a country that buys weapons into one that produces them and shapes the warfare technologies of the future. ASELSAN TOLUN is not merely a bomb; it is a very important chess piece with which Türkiye is making moves on the global chessboard."
Footage from the broadcast also showed ASELSAN’s stand at MSPO 2026, Eastern Europe’s largest defense exhibition. At the exhibition in Kielce, Poland, in September, ASELSAN signed a contract with Poland’s AMZ Kutno for additional ARSUS reconnaissance and surveillance systems. Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports reached approximately $10 billion in 2025.
