Afyonkarahisar Motorsports Center will host the 17th round of the World Motocross Championship (MXGP) and the NG Afyon MotoFest from September 2-6. Mahmut Nedim Akülke, Vice President of the Turkish Motorcycle Federation (TMF), said the event has been held in Afyonkarahisar for nine years and has become an integrated festival bringing sports, art, and young people together.
In a statement to Anadolu Agency (AA), Akülke said: 'It is an integrated youth festival that includes NG Afyon MotoFest, bringing together sports, art, and young people. Thanks to the festival, we are hosting hundreds of thousands of people in Afyonkarahisar. In addition, we are promoting both Afyonkarahisar and our country at the highest level in the world.'

Afyon becomes world capital of motocross
Emphasizing the great effort of the Afyonkarahisar Governorate and Municipality, the TMF, clubs, and staff in realizing the organization, Akülke noted that the city has become one of the major centers of motorsports over the years. 'Afyonkarahisar has become a meeting point for hundreds of thousands of people with sports, art, and culture. Instead of focusing on a specific target for spectator numbers, we now try to include as many people as possible. Our capacity is no longer sufficient,' Akülke said, adding that he believes they will host hundreds of thousands again this year.
Akülke highlighted that the MXGP, where athletes from 25 different countries will compete, has decided one or two category champions in Afyonkarahisar every year. 'Along with the athletes, their fans also come to our country. We want this number to increase even more,' he said. He added that minor changes will be made to the track in 2025, and that a completely renovated motocross track will be seen at the 10th anniversary event in 2026.
