Trade Minister Ömer Bolat met Cambodian Commerce Minister Cham Nimul in Istanbul on the occasion of the visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who is in Türkiye as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s guest.
Bolat said the meeting and the Türkiye-Cambodia Business Forum held earlier with the prime minister’s participation would be a major step toward opening new doors of cooperation. “We set a joint goal of raising our trade volume, which neared $400 million in 2025, to $1 billion in a balanced way,” he said.

Agriculture, defense and energy
Bolat said Türkiye and Cambodia aim to boost their potential in agriculture, the defense industry, energy, food processing and infrastructure and to further strengthen bilateral ties, adding that business contacts would be decisive in the process.
The two ministers last met in Ankara in November 2025 on the sidelines of the fourth session of the Türkiye-Cambodia Joint Economic Commission. At a joint news conference with Hun Manet, Erdoğan also said work toward the $1 billion target set in 2018 was continuing, and the two countries signed a Military Framework Agreement during the visit.
