Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced payment options for beneficiaries of disaster housing and business premises built in provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes. Beneficiaries who settle their debts in a single payment by December 31, 2026, will be eligible for discounts of 74% on housing and 48% on business premises.
The minister said the discount was introduced under the debt-assessment process by a decision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Those who choose installment payments instead of paying in full will make no payments for two years from the date the housing is delivered, and will then be able to repay their debts over 18 years. Çiftçi said, "In our understanding of government, it is essential to share our citizens' concerns, ease their burden and stand by them whenever they need us."
Transactions through e-Government and Ziraat Bank
An informational video released with the announcement explains that beneficiaries first log in to e-Government, select the relevant disaster on AFAD's beneficiary-status screen, approve the information notice and check their details. They then open a non-term disaster housing account through Ziraat Bank and select a debt-payment method.
Those who want to pay their entire debt in a single payment can apply at any Ziraat Bank branch in their province. Installments can be paid through mobile or internet banking based on the current amount displayed on the screen.
Part of the plan announced in February
In the payment plan President Erdoğan announced in February, he said the state would cover 65% of the cost, including infrastructure, of 455,000 disaster housing units built in 11 provinces affected by the earthquake, and that the homes would be paid for at fixed prices without interest. Under that plan, the monthly installment for a three-bedroom home with a living room was set at 8,750 lira. Çiftçi also stressed that the Interior Ministry and AFAD would continue working for the nation's peace, security and welfare.
