On May 20, Gülsima Yıldız, who went to the streamside in the village of Cevizlidere in Muş to collect herbs, lost her balance while crossing a wooden bridge and fell into the water. After her relatives, who lost contact with Yıldız who was swept away by the current, reported it, a large number of search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. In addition to AFAD, gendarmerie, UMKE, HAK, and İHH teams, security guards and villagers are also supporting the search efforts. The teams are conducting searches on land, water, and from the air with drone support at designated points along the stream bed. The search activities have been intensified along a total of 61 kilometers, extending not only along the Muş line but also to the borders of Batman and Diyarbakır, taking into account the direction of the water flow. While the search operations in Batman continue under the coordination of AFAD in the Kaşyayla village area of the Sason district, the Batman Municipality Underwater Search and Rescue and diver teams, as well as ANDA Search and Rescue volunteers, are also involved. ANDA Search and Rescue volunteer Mehmet Taner stated that despite the difficult terrain and weather conditions, the teams are continuing their search efforts with determination. Taner emphasized that their primary goal is to reach the missing citizen Gülsima Yıldız as soon as possible and that all teams are working selflessly day and night. It was reported that the search and rescue activities will continue until results are achieved.
